Classroom Highlight - Orange Room

Orange Room students are currently learning about Hominins in history and they had to create their own Cave Drawings. We turned the classroom lights off and taped the canvas under their desk, so they would have to draw their pictures while on their backs. This was to simulate how hard it was to draw on cave walls with very little lighting.

On September 5th the Orange Room students ventured to Tahoe Tree Tops in Tahoe City to do a series of different obstacle courses and ziplines. The obstacle courses had three different ratings of difficulty and a couple students overcame their fear of heights. Fun was had by all, including parents!

Mrs. Cohodes Highlight: Mrs. Cohodes has worked at MMCA since 2008 in 6th grade (Orange Room). She also coaches the MMCA girls' volleyball team and girls soccer team and additionally coaches soccer and volleyball teams in the Auburn area. She has two daughters, one in 7th grade at MMCA and a Freshman at Colfax High School.  She loves spending time in the Tahoe area skiing or kayaking and in the Summer she is gardening on her property. She will be orchestrating some ski and snowboard trips starting in December for the Middle School grade levels and loves teaching at MMCA!

Uniform Policy Reminder

MMCA has a uniform policy which is on our website.

The following are a few reminders based upon what has been observed the past few weeks on campus.

Bottoms:

  • Styles: Uniform-style pants, capris, shorts, skirts, dresses, or jumpers not shorter than 2” above the knee.  Students will be dress-coded if they wear bottoms that are shorter than mid-thigh.

  • Colors (solid): Navy blue or tan khaki.

  • Examples of unacceptable bottoms: jeans, sweat-pants, overalls.

If your student is in need of uniform clothing, please email ptammca@gmail.com. We have many donated items in excellent condition in a variety of sizes and styles for families who request them.
