Heads up - We had a REAL Lockdown today

We had an interesting situation this morning at school that I wanted to let you know about. At approximately 10:30a this morning, The Rocklin Police Department asked us to go into ‘lockdown mode’ while they pursued a suspect in our neighborhood that was armed with a knife. The suspect was apprehended quickly and was arrested in the parking lot at Azevedo Park. With the suspect arrested, Rocklin Police ended the lockdown, which lasted a total of about 5 minutes. For some kids, this may have been a traumatic experience that they may want to talk about with you.

Teacher Appreciation Week THANK YOU’s!

On behalf of our entire staff, we’d like to sincerely thank our PTA and all of the parents who were so generous with their gifts this week. We REALLY appreciate it!

Return to School COVID-19 Update

Reminder: While we are excited to be back to our “normal” bell schedule, ALL of our COVID-19 Safety Protocols will remain in place. These protocols can be found on our COVID-19 News page: https://www.mmcharter.org/newsletters. COVID-19 is still prevalent within our community. We need to continue to be diligent, and our weekly reminder about our basic COVID-19 protocols regarding student/staff illness and quarantines is available here.

MMCA Garden Update - Big Day of Giving Fundraiser is TODAY!

Our garden needs your help! As we look toward *hopefully* bringing back our garden docent program next year, we realized that many garden boxes, tools, and other supplies have been lost or broken over the last 2 COVID-impacted school years. In order to raise some funds to replace or fix these items, the garden will be participating in the Big Day of Giving Fundraiser on Thursday, May 6th (TODAY). Thank you in advance for considering a tax deductible donation to the garden! https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/mmcagarden

Summer Camp Update - Spots are filling up fast and we’ve changed a couple of the weekly themes!

After only a week of registration being open, we’ve already filled more than half of our available spots for this years’ Summer Camp program! A couple of the weeks are almost full! If you’re wanting your child(ren) to participate, get them signed up ASAP! Additionally, our Summer Camp staff has changed a couple of the weekly themes. The updated themes and descriptions, as well as the registration paperwork, are all available on our Summer Camp website at this link: https://www.mmcharter.org//summer-camp.

Breakfast is HERE!

We served our first breakfasts this week!

Breakfast will be served from 8:10 - 8:30 in the MPR (cafeteria). Students will be able to sit down and eat in the MPR (unless they don't have time to eat, in which case they can take it with them to eat at morning snack).

Each breakfast is served with milk and fresh fruit. The breakfasts are not warmed and will be served at room temperature or cold.

Breakfasts are not covered under the USDA waiver for free meals for all public school students; they are under the guidelines of the NSLP (National School Lunch Program). Students will be charged $2.50 for breakfast, unless your family has been approved for free or reduced-price meals ($.30). Free/reduced lunch applications are available HERE.

You can start ordering by logging into www.mmca.boonli.com. Click the "May Breakfast" menu and make your selections. If the price it is charging is not what you expected, contact Denise Thorman at dthorman@mmcharter.org.

Summer School Update!

Space in our Summer School program will be limited. Per the state’s COVID-19 ‘reopening schools’ program, we are first offering Summer School spots to the students that our teachers believe have had their learning most impacted by the pandemic. These students’ parents/guardians have received individual invitations and will have until May 7th to RSVP regarding whether or not they want the spot; after that, we will open Summer School enrollment to ALL students on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis until our slots are filled.
