COVID-19 Update
The following is a press release prepared by PCOE for use by all public schools within Placer County in regards to the ‘stay at home’ order going into effect tonight:
Greater Sacramento Regional Stay Home Order
On Wednesday the State of California announced the implementation of a Regional Stay Home Order in the Greater Sacramento Area including Placer County based on ICU capacity in regional hospitals. The order will go into effect tonight at 11:59 p.m.
It’s important to note that the Regional Stay Home Order does NOT impact schools. Schools that have already opened may continue to provide in-person instruction on school sites with continued vigilant implementation of COVID-19 health and safety protocols, even under the stay home order.
MMCA will remain open in our current hybrid structure. We will continue to follow our School Reopening Plan with guidance provided by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Placer County Public Health. These plans provide layers of protective measures, including air purification and filtration, plexiglas barriers, temperature checks, face coverings, physical distancing, contact tracing, health screenings, and regular cleaning and disinfection. As a result of these safety measures, we will continue to serve students on campus.
As a reminder during the holiday season, take steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 so that when we return from winter break, there will be less chance of germs returning along with us. And, please stay home if you are sick. Placer County Public Health has published some tips for the holidays.
Annual Parent Income Survey Emailed Electronically yesterday
Yesterday, we emailed a link to this survey to each of our K-8th grade parents. With California’s “Local Control Funding Formula” for California public schools, parent income levels are one of the components of the formula. Every year, all California public schools are required to collect ANONYMOUS parent income information from their families. Additionally, a number of opportunities exist to apply for grant funding that will benefit the children of the Maria Montessori Charter Academy. All students being eligible for free school lunches since last March regardless of family income level would be one example of an opportunity. Many of these opportunities are based on the income levels of our families. Please be assured that this information is considered highly confidential. It is very important that we collect surveys for every M.M.C.A. student. We will be following up with families until we have collected a survey from every family. If you didn’t receive a survey, verify your email is correct in the Aeries Parent Portal (https://aeriesportal.placercoe.k12.ca.us/Parent/MMCA/LoginParent.aspx). The survey only takes about 1 minute to complete.
Parent Communications
If you ever think that you’ve missed communication from the school, whether a Flyer, a parent note, etc., we post all of our all-school communications on our ‘Announcements’ Blog on our website, available at this link: https://www.mmcharter.org/announcements
