Children’s House Highlight

Our Children’s House students worked with teacher Erika Mares to create amazing silhouettes for an art installation in our front office (see pic below!) ! A little bit of info about Ms. Mares:

Ms. Mares returns to Children's House after joining our family last November.  After graduating from the University of Tulsa with dual undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Secondary Education, she began her teaching career as a high school U.S. History/Government teacher.

Upon returning to her hometown of San Francisco, her journey placed her in Director Positions with: Pottery Barn, GAP, San Jose State Athletics and the SF 49ers.  Erika continues to support families with private tutoring in pre-K through college.  If you ask her what the most significant role she has ever held, she would say, "being a mother to my daughter Rylee."

Ms. Mares is passionate about instilling a love of learning in the students at Children's House.  She believes a Montessori classroom provides the ideal environment for children to learn and grow, and become learners for a lifetime.

Children’s House Parents - driveway reminder - NO LEFT TURNS out of our preschool driveway!

Our ‘no left turn’ sign that’s normally on our stop sign has vanished, and we’ve ordered a replacement.  In the interim, please do not turn left out of our Children’s House driveway - please go straight and use the ‘through’ lane of our parking lot.  Thank you!

Cross Country Update

We have a new Cross Country coach!  MMCA parent Lindsay Roche, who ran Cross Country in college, has stepped up for us!  Tryouts / first practice will be on next Tuesday, September 10th starting at 3:20p - we’ll meet at our outdoor picnic tables initially, and then go to the park.  Generally, practices will be after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:20p - 4:00p.  Meet dates vary (tentative schedule will be given to participants next week).  Sign ups have been posted in the gym - 4th-8th grade boys and girls may participate (as well as 3rd graders who can run the mile in under 9 minutes).

Uniform Policy Reminder

MMCA has a uniform policy which is on our website.

The following are a few reminders based upon what has been observed the past few weeks on campus.

Bottoms:

  • Styles: Uniform-style pants, capris, shorts, skirts, dresses, or jumpers not shorter than 2” above the knee.  Students will be dress-coded if they wear bottoms that are shorter than mid-thigh.

  • Colors (solid): Navy blue or tan khaki.

  • Examples of unacceptable bottoms: jeans, sweat-pants, overalls.

If your student is in need of uniform clothing, please email ptammca@gmail.com. We have many donated items in excellent condition in a variety of sizes and styles for families who request them.
