Our Annual Teen CERT Mock Disaster is NEXT Thursday and we NEED HELP!

For the first time since 2019, we’re going to be doing a mock disaster with our Teen CERT program and we need your help! Parents - Please sign up to volunteer at our Mock Disaster.

Teen CERT is a program we do with our 7th and 8th grade students that teaches leadership and communication skills during emergency situations. Our students have been training 90 minutes every Friday since September to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies in their school. The Teen Community Emergency Response Team (Teen CERT) educates students in disaster preparedness for hazards that could affect their school and trains them in basic response skills including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, triage and first aid. Teen CERT students learn how to be first responders at a school disaster scene, and then transfer command over to better-trained authorities when they arrive. The program culminates in a student exercise of a mock disaster, with several regional fire, police and emergency response personnel participating in the drill as well.

Denise is Retiring!

After 18+ years as our Business Manager and more than 20 years involvement with our school, our Business Manager Denise Thorman is retiring at the end of the school year! We are eternally grateful for all of the contributions Denise has made to our school community, and we are going to miss her!

We are going to be bringing in Brooke Johnson, formerly the Accounting Manager at Make A Wish Northern California, as Denise’s eventual replacement. Brooke is going to be starting at MMCA next week, working with Denise the next three months learning our systems and processes and getting to know everyone within our school community.

WatchDOGS - Save the Date!

We’re looking forward to bringing our WatchDOGS program back onto our campus! We’re tentatively looking at a ‘Donuts with Dads’ Event on Wednesday morning, 4/20/22, from 8:00a - 8:25a, to reintroduce the program to our community and start the signups process for this spring. We’re likewise planning on doing our ‘Pizza w/ Dads’ event in early Fall to get WatchDOGS going by mid-September next school year. We will be sending out a WatchDOGS specific eblast next week with an RSVP link for the Donuts w/ Dads event.
