|
Good morning MMCA Families,
Our first day of school is THIS WEDNESDAY!!! Later today (and possibly tomorrow morning), we will be sending a Flyer about our first day of school and our drop-off / pick-up procedures at school. With no “new Parent Information Night” for our new K-8th grade families this year, I wanted to send each of you an electronic copy of our “New Parent Orientation Handbook’, which has the information we would share on a this Flyer, we wanted to share our new parent orientation handbook Some ‘first week of school’ items for you:
24/25 Parent Orientation Handbook is now LIVE (linked HERE). New parents in particular, please take a look at all of this packet.
Staffing Updates:
We have a couple changes / new roles going into this school year, including:
Teacher assignment changes -We’ve got some people in new roles this year, including:
Jennifer Solinsky’s role is being expanded and she will be coordinating all of our special education as well as intervention programs
Chrystee Boothby will be teaching all 7/8th grade math, and will be splitting her time between our Green and Coral classrooms
Adrienne Garcia will be co-teaching within our 6th grade Orange classroom again, as well as continuing to assist me as our school’s Assistant Director
New staff:
Chad Wallace is joining us as an intern teacher, and will be splitting his time in both the Coral and Green classrooms.
Ruth Vellutini will be our new Speech teacher
Retiring staff:
Carrie Kurpershoek, who had been our Special Education coordinator, is retiring. While we’re sad to see her go, we’re excited for her new ventures in retirement. During the next few weeks, we will be hiring additional instructional staff to assist Mrs. Solinsky with our Special Education / Intervention programs.
Class Rosters: Class rosters will be posted after 4:00p today at school. A couple thoughts regarding class rosters:
My PRIMARY goal in developing class rosters is to establish as ‘balanced’ a classroom as possible. ‘Balance’ for me includes 1) behavior, 2) academic ability, 3) gender and 4) grade levels.
We had A LOT of parent requests this year - while I honored some of them, I did not honor all of them, for a variety of reasons. One example for ‘why’ on parent requests: At one grade level, honoring all parent requests would’ve led to almost all boys in one class, and almost all girls in the other class. Regardless of classroom placement, I’m confident that all of our students will have positive experiences this year regardless of classroom placement.
