Governance
The Maria Montessori Charter Academy is a non-profit public school. Originally chartered in 2000 by the Twin Ridges
Elementary School District, the school closed in June 2008 and reorganized as an independent, direct-funded charter sponsored by the Rocklin Unified School District. The 2009-2010 school year will be M.M.C.A.’s 10th year of overall operation. The M.M.C.A. Board of Directors primarily governs the school.
The M.M.C.A. Charter is the school’s primary governing document. The by-laws work in conjunction with the Charter Document and define the scope and function of the Board of Directors. The M.M.C.A. Board has authority and oversight responsibility on the school budget, facilities, personnel, program and the ability to amend the school’s charter and by-laws.
M.M.C.A. is sponsored by Rocklin Unified School District. Also, for your information we have also included some of the relevant legal links for charter schools in California. 2010 MMCA Board of Director Candidate Statements Here
